Ordinary Doors Can Lead to Extraordinary Treasures
Life is like a long hallway filled with doorways of opportunity.
As you venture down this hallway it’s imperative that you pay attention! Try not to be distracted by the prettiest door or the one that is straight ahead.
Instead, reach out and touch the old, unassuming doors because their peeling paint and rusty hinges may tell you a deeper story. Listen for the ones that creak open as you are making your way down the hallway. Look twice at the ones that get on your nerves because they won't shut properly. Attempt to enter those that are boarded or barricaded…more than likely THOSE are the entries with the MOST opportunity!
And this is how life is. Our lack of attention and appreciation for the ordinary often cost us. Sometimes we miss out on extraordinary experiences because we were too focused on the obvious or afraid of the unknown.
This can be applied in all facets of our lives – personally, professionally, spiritually, etc. I’d bet my last dollar that like me, you’ve bypassed plenty of doors in your life. And looking back you probably wonder - what would have happened if you had taken 2 extra minutes to open the door and peek behind it? Who would’ve been on the other side? Where would that have led you? Would you have found a shortcut?
You may never know and that’s ok because it was intended to be this way. “Hindsight is 20/20”. However, next time you find yourself strolling down a long hallway, I urge you to stop and pay closer attention. Challenge yourself to go for those plain, unassuming door(s) or to overcome your irrational fears. Unbound possibilities are waiting for you on the other side!!
Which door(s) have you bypassed in the attempt to get where you were going faster? Are you afraid to open unmarked, inconspicuous doors? Why?
